How to Feed | Rickeybon Feline Fuel Serving Guide

HOW TO SERVE
RICKEYBON

TWO FEEDING METHODS

Pouch Method

The Pouch Method

No bowl. No fork. No dishes. Just you, your cat, and the fuel.

Hold the pouch out. Squeeze slowly from the bottom. Let them come to you. Somewhere between the third lick and the heavy purring you didn't ask for, something happens.

Call it bonding. Call it the best two minutes of your day. One hand on the pouch, one hand on the cat. No kitchen table required. Rickeybon doesn't care what you call it. He just knows it works.

Plate Method

The Plate Method

Step back. Let the cat decide when, how fast, and if you deserve to watch.

Squeeze a clean dollop of the smooth puree onto a plate. Step back. This is fine dining on their terms—and if you know cats, you already know that's the only terms that exist.

Some cats prefer their food in a neat, concentrated mound. Others like it spread thin so they can lap it up slowly. Respect their choice. They are the diners; you are just the sous-chef.

FEEDING PERSONALITIES

Which feeding profile matches your domestic hunter?

THE LICKER

Licks with eyes closed in total sensory ecstasy.

Orange tabby licking puree

Best Protocol:The pouch protocol is mandatory. You are now an honorary pouch holder. Sneaky Technique: Use this opportunity to pet and cuddle.

THE CRITIC

Carefully observes from a distance before taking it's first taste.

White Persian cat inspecting a plate

Best Protocol:Go for the plate. Squeeze a big dollop on a flat plate, step back, and let them eat in privacy.

THE BITER

Aggressive and impatient. Doesn't understand the squeeze mechanic. Treats the pouch like a chew toy. Will not give up until the pouch is empty or destroyed.

Black Bombay cat biting pouch

Best Protocol:Empty the pouch into a plate or bowl and retreat to a safe distance. Attempting to hand-feed will result in puncture wounds.

THE THIEF

Strategic thinker. Silent but secretly plotting. Waiting for the perfect moment to dine and dash.

Siamese cat stealing food

Best Protocol:The pouch and plate are both options. Just never leave them alone with the pouch as it will trigger their instinct to dine and dash.

DO'S & DON'TS

Do protocols
  • Serve at Room Temp

Allow the natural chicken and salmon lipids to release their optimal flavor. If refrigerated, let it sit out for 15 minutes before serving.

  • Squeeze Slowly

If utilizing the pouch protocol, press the puree up in small increments to match your cat's natural licking speed.

  • Provide Fresh Water

Rickeybon has nearly 80% moisture to cover hydration, but a separate clean water bowl should always be available.

  • Wipe the Nozzle After Serving

After each use, clean the nozzle tip with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove residue. This keeps the flow smooth, prevents buildup, and maintains hygienic sealing for the next feeding.

  • Serve on a Wide, Shallow Plate

Cats with sensitive whiskers can experience “whisker fatigue” when their whiskers repeatedly touch deep or narrow bowls. A flat, wide plate removes edge pressure, letting them eat without sensory overload.

Don't protocols
  • Don't Dilute with Water

Diluting with tap water ruins the precise mineral ratios and alters the michelin-grade texture. Feed as formulated.

  • Don't Microwave the Pouch

Never place the pouch in the microwave. It ruins the sterilized barrier lining and creates uneven heat pockets.

  • Don't Leave Open Over 48h

Because we use zero gums or chemical additives, open pouches must be refrigerated and finished within 48 hours.

  • Don’t Leave at Room Temperature Beyond a Few Hours After Opening

Even with high moisture content, exposure accelerates oxidation and microbial risk once unsealed.

  • Don’t Freeze the Product

Freezing breaks the emulsion structure of the pâté, affecting texture and mouthfeel after thawing.
